Advanced Filtering
When working with large amounts of data, it is helpful to be able to filter that data so that you only see a subset of the whole. One of the filtering tools available in Excel is referred to as advanced filtering, and it allows you to be very specific on what you want to see in your subset of data.

The advanced filtering feature in Excel allows you to quickly copy unique information from one data list to another. Copying the Results of Filtering
Filtering is a great asset when you need to get a handle on a subset of your data. Excel even makes it easy to copy the filtered data to another location, as described here.
Extracting Targeted Records from a List
Got a bunch of data stored in a list on a worksheet? You can use the Advanced Filter capabilities of Excel to extract just the records you need, thereby making it much easier to manage your data.
Performing Calculations While Filtering
The advanced filtering capabilities of Excel allow you to easily perform comparisons and calculations while doing the filtering. Setting up the filter is easy, as described in this tip.
