Selecting a Paper Size

Summary: Excel can print your worksheet on just about any paper size you can imagine. How you select the paper size you want used depends on your printer's capabilities and what Windows will allow you to do. (This tip works with Microsoft Excel 97, Excel 2000, Excel 2002, Excel 2003, and Excel 2007.)

Excel supports any printer supported by Windows. This is because Excel uses the features offered by Windows to print documents. Many of the features associated with formatting your worksheets and printing are related to the type of printer you have installed and selected. For instance, many printers will support different sizes of paper. If your printer does this, and you want to change the paper size used for your worksheet, you should follow these steps if you are using a version of Excel prior to Excel 2007:

Choose the Page Setup option from the File menu. You will see the Page Setup dialog box.
Make sure the Page tab is selected. (Click here to see a related figure.)
Use the Paper Size drop-down list to select the appropriate paper size for your worksheet.
Click on OK.

If you are using Excel 2007, follow these steps instead:

Make sure the Page Layout tab of the ribbon is displayed.
In the Page Setup group, click the Size tool. Excel displays a number of different common paper sizes.
Click the paper size you want to use for your worksheet.
