Deleting a Footer

Summary: Each new Excel worksheet contains a page footer, by default. Follow this tip to get rid of the footers you don't really need. (This tip works with Microsoft Excel 97, Excel 2000, Excel 2002, and Excel 2003.)

When you create a new Excel spreadsheet, it contains page footers. If you want to get rid of the page footer, or simply delete a footer you previously defined, follow these steps:

  1. Select Page Setup from the File menu. This displays the Page Setup dialog box.
  2. Make sure the Header/Footer tab is selected. (Click here to see a related figure.)
  3. Using the Footer drop-down list, select the very top predefined footer. This appears as (none).
  4. Click on OK to close the Page Setup dialog box.

Tip #2695 applies to Microsoft Excel versions: 97 | 2000 | 2002 | 2003
