Deleting a Header

Summary: Each new Excel worksheet contains a page header, by default. Follow this tip to get rid of headers you don't need. (This tip works with Microsoft Excel 97, Excel 2000, Excel 2002, and Excel 2003.)

When you create a new Excel spreadsheet, it contains page headers. If you want to get rid of the page header, follow these steps:

  1. Select Page Setup from the File menu. This displays the Page Setup dialog box.
  2. Make sure the Header/Footer tab is selected. (Click here to see a related figure.)
  3. Using the Header drop-down list, select the very top predefined header. This appears as (none).
  4. Click on OK to close the Page Setup dialog box.

Tip #2693 applies to Microsoft Excel versions: 97 | 2000 | 2002 | 2003
