Forcing a Page Break

Summary: To force Excel to place a page break where needed, follow these easy steps. (This tip works with Microsoft Excel 97, Excel 2000, Excel 2002, and Excel 2003.)

As your worksheet gets larger, there may be times when you want to force Excel to starting printing on a new page. For instance, you might want only the first fifteen rows of information on the first page, then the balance of the worksheet on the second printout page. To make this happen, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure cell A16 is selected.
  2. Choose Page Break from the Insert menu. A dashed line appears between rows 15 and 16.
  3. Print your worksheet as normal.

If you want to later remove the page break, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure cell A16 is selected.
  2. Choose Remove Page Break from the Insert menu. The dashed line disappears.
